Any word on the 2008 Models?
Yeah I wish i could test ride the KX500AF from none other than "SERVICE HONDA"....thats' a mean *** bike and if it's anything like my buddies old KX500 and his other opeen class bike CR500 it would be awesome!!!!!!! those bikes were very brutal but awesome in the woods and no one could ever touch you in the wooods....!!!!!...Now with the new chassis they must be unstoppable which i'd pay to run one....nice and thin bike with open class out of control power.........oh hhh let me stop now before i wet my pants.....yes go to SERVICE HONDA to check out the bikes they build....the best thing is that they are factory built and approved for it too....
I have to butt in again but the CR500AF is built on a CR125 chassis from '07 and the KX500AF is built on a KX125 chassis just in case you did not know........My//.......dammit i'm pitching a tent here beavis.........
2 strokes are a blast, I hope they never stop making them. KTM not only still selling 2 strokes, they are still improving on them.
That KX500AF is simply awesome, I'd love to throw a leg over that!

I have a yz125 stroked to the hilt if I want to ripp through the woods and will always keep a 2 smoke around for kicks. One bike I ride with alot is an ATK406 2 smoke and it is just plain sick.

If I can plate a 450 that's the route I would like to go. Im a bit bummed about the stock 250 in the power dept & just saw the new stuff from Yahama that peaked my intrest, wanna hear more about that one. My older bros always benn Harley & Kaw guys(Italian Z90,1340 Low Rider,KZ650,ZX9) & I always liked Kawasaki but my 1st new bike was a Honda XL185S. I have a Yahama Outboard on my boat & if thats any indication of their bikes, then they are good to go.
Looks like I will wait to see what on the floors when the show falls in January!

When I was younger a buddy of mine had a KX 500, That bike was Insane. Any 500cc 2 stroke would smoke anyof the 450s of today in a flat out drag race. Around anMX-track well thats a different story.I I'm not saying the 450s are slow by any means but just not in the same league as the 500s when it comes to raw power. He didn't have the bike for long It was too fast for him so he sold it. (he always seemed to crash on that thing)...lol... But it sure was fun to rip up and down the block...

I'd imagine that the 450 wouldn't be too pleased with doing 50/50 road/dirt duty though.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but makes sense to me.
Maby the only thing that would hurt the bike would be keeping the rpm's steady? Other than that I can't see what would be so hard on it after beatin' it through the woods.

But when you think of it as it should be easier on the bike doing 50kms of road, than it is 50kms of dirt?

Sure, when you're in the woods, you're rattling everything around, but that's hardly a problem for the engine, which will continue to just pump the piston up and down happily. It's the frame and the transmission that will get pissed at you for riding offroad, not the engine.
