Canadian models were faster with the earlier years due to the less strict EPA restrictions, especially compared to the California models. The new Cali models have Catalytic Converters on them so that adds weight & from all the smog stuff, the exhaust and exhaust flow restriction. So yes the Canadian models are faster than the Cali model but I am not sure about the 49 state. I think they are the same. The older Canadian models had hotter cams, but that was bikes over 5-10 years ago.

i remember reading that the manufacturer's no longer make models that are geographically specific cuz it's too costly, and they just all pass the euro emissions now which are more stringent than the california smog laws. i think this is just for the past couple years though, i know previously 49 state models/canadian models were faster than california models
