Default Aluminum Panniers for a 2007???

Hi,

I just bought a 2007 KLX 250 H7F. It’d been sitting in a guy’s garage for years and only had 550 miles. It runs great.

Does anyone one make hard cases for this model? I’ve looked everywhere.

I live at sea level and most of my riding will be below 3000 feet. Should I go up one size on the pilot and main jets? I’m opening the air box and putting in a No Toil filter but won’t be putting on an aftermarket exhaust.

Thanks!
Nevada

There's lots of information on the 2007 model here:

These folks are local to me and I have their pannier kit on my vstrom.

Search around here and you'll find some great jetting threads. The stock muffler is very restrictive and you'll likely gain very little by opening up the airbox. Many of the low altitude riders went up a size on the pilot, but usually with aftermarket muffler.

They no longer make a pannier rack for the 2007 KLX.

Bummer.
I know the subframe is a little different between the model years, but I'm curious if the 2009+ rack is that much different than 06/07.
Did you happen to call them? Ed has been my go-to guy there.

If you decide to go a different direction, I have a cyclerack that I've never used and would sell.

How much do you want for the rack, including shipping to Denver?

I got that cycle rack for my 07. Used it for a couple of years, then decided it was too wide, as when you have an off, it hits and if you ride hard your foot can get caught in the rack as you're flying around. ....so I cut it down and made it just as wide as those inboard ears that go to the rear pegs. I works great and I put roto packs on the rack for those long mileage days.
