98 klx300r wont start/run long - timing?
i bought a low hrs 98 klx300r guy let the carb sit so last year he bought a new one claims it ran, this year it didnt run again. so it has a basicly has a new carb, my friend took it off and went through it good all passages clear etc.. thing doesnt want to run, doesnt start well when it does it doesnt stay running long and has to be reved up to not die. i tried to kick it over for 10 minutes just today and nothing..
meanwhile i sent the exhaust cam to brewster on thumpertalk for the acr mod so it kicks nice and easy now, when i put it back in i made sure the cams were timed right but one thing i noticed is to get the cams lined up TDC as shown in the manual, the T mark on the crank was slightly off from the sight - is this normal? anyone have any ideas why this thing doesnt want to start good/stay running?
edit: i should ad i did get it started and running long enough at the previous owners house long enough to rip it up and down the street but it was bogging and then going and didnt want to idle

T mark off abit is normal, if its out you cant even see it as one tooth on the cams moves them along way.probably somthing with the carb, throw some gas into the cly then try to start it that will tell you if its carb or not (as long as its not already flooded) check the plug if its wet when you add some fuel to the cly.
hope that helpd
kelly.
