No interest in a bigger tank.

How does it compare to bills TM33/34? Dunno, I chose this one because its 2mm bigger and a hunnert dollars cheaper. I asked Bill when I was on the phone with him he said it would be a gas hog with the TM36-68. I will let you know. Last 2 tanks on the 351 got me 48 mpg with the old carb. This was totally enjoying the power.

I got my tm36 from Bill Blue when I got my 351. I do not use the return cable. Performance is great. My thanks to bill for turning me on to the carb.

I believe you got a TM 33/34 from Bill not a 36.

Wink

Bill takes a TM33 with accelerator pump and bores it out to 34 mm. He also makes a nice adapter or extension that makes mounting the carb a breeze, Throttle cable hooks right up. I think its jetted properly too.

I have Bills 351. I wanted all I could get on the street from this bike so I went for the 36mm.

No, I have the 36mm. Bill Blue had one there when I went to his place to get the 351. He made a cable for me to use on the new carb. I have been doing this for 55 years and know the difference.

Edumacate us if you will... I'm thinking of doing the 351/carb route soon myself, and want to get the optimum stuff.

Whats the advantage of using a larger bore carb? Seems to me, as long as the throat is big enough to carry the air required for WOT, anything larger is just going to slow the airflow over the jets, making it less responsive, particularly if you open the throttle in a hurry. Less restriction good... stumbling bad. What am I missing?

Shifter - is it a gas hog like suggested above?
