351 burning oil
Might be a good idea to keep the 249cc OEM cylinder and piston next time like I decided. $175 core is way less than it would cost me to buy new parts and if my 351 craps out I am just a couple of gaskets and MCM away from they way the bike used to run, and reliable.
Curious to see what might be causing this issue. Sorry to hear of the problems encountered by buyers. I feel fortunate the 350 kit I received is still running great with no issues. Thank you bill
I'd end gap the rings off the piston just to make sure that's been taken care of. Reinstall them as described in the service manual.
As a precaution I'd go over the top & bottom of the cylinder gasket mating surfaces with a scouring pad n contact cleaner before assembly to be 100% positive they will seat properly.
I would ask for suggestions from bill before assembly.
Best of luck and enjoy !
