Default 2021+ KLX300 Dual Sport

Looking to spark some interest in the 2021+ KLX300. And gain some knowledge.
I am trying to decide weather to try the MCM mod. Ultimately, I may, but I have I have some lingering thoughts, and have not seen anybody report on additional experiments. I have read through some old stuff, maybe missed it.
Options:
Advance intake
Retard Exhaust
Advance intake and retard exhaust
Exhaust header diameter/length would have to be optimized for the mod to realize max gain. Depending on weather one cam or both cams were changed would increase overlap by roughly 10 or 20 degrees. Exhaust header would matter depending on the change and the target rpm for peak torque.
Based on my riding, I would likely benefit from more torque earlier. I also need to look at a sprocket ratio change based on my riding preference.
I really like this bike, so more power earlier would be a bonus. Damn good bike for the money.
Also, trying to poke around and learn about the bike, the fuel injection must use an Alpha-N type strategy. Essentially the main sensors seem to be throttle position and RPM. No MAP sensor, and it would fluctuate wildly on a single cylinder with a small intake volume if it had one anyway.
Seen a few guys that did stuff with the 250 FI, assuming that applies in concept to the 300. Kind of spit balling at this point and data mining.
P.S. Already have a PCFC 17900 for when/if I decide to make changes.
P.P.S. I am semi-old, 53. But I still kick *** on a bike 😊

I bought the bike to teach my kid how to ride, got him a KLX230. I used to ride a ton in my younger days. We have been having a blast riding together.

I also share your interest and am also considering the mcm mod. I did a couple of other mods on my KLX to increase low rpm torque. One is a FMF Megabomb header...

And the other mod is extending the length of the midpipe about 6 inches into the muffler.

And an oversized intake...

I live in a rural area and ride for daily utility transportation so my engine runs at partial throttle in the 3,500 to 5,000 rpm range all the time. It pulls strong at 3,500 rpms without lugging even with small 37T rear sprocket road gearing. These parameters are well within closed loop fuel management so the O2 sensor works fine and I'm not experiencing any lean air/fuel ratio symptoms.

I like your exhaust, especially the muffler. I saw in another post that you fabbed that yourself I believe. I also saw a dyno chart that looked like you picked a good bit with the exhaust.

The stock muffler weighs a hefty 8 pounds 12 ounces, whereas mine weighs only 3 pounds 6 ounces. Removing over five and a quarter pounds of weight from high on the chassis makes the bike feel less top heavy.
