I’m about to refoam my stock seat to make it more Tour-friendly. Plan is to add a bump on the back and make the middle softer. Anybody got experience with that? Is it advisable to cut away the stock foam or just add a soft foam layer on top? Example foto
Babo,
If you dig into some older posts here, you'll find at least a couple good threads on re-foaming the KLX seat.
I went with a guts racing tall seat. Tried soft foam at first, but it was too soft and medium density works great for me.
You don't want that profile of the Rally seat you show there. You want flat in the rider area, not cupped either to the front or to the rear. Make it so you can move around. The step in the back makes sense both if you have a passenger or you want to put some throw over bags. I want to step the seat on both my KLXs, but haven't done either yet.
Best thing to make a saddle feel softer is to ride more and get your butt used to it. You could have a jell pad implanted into the seat when upholstered. The other thing is some widen the seat where you sit, distributing weight better. Someone will post about it I'm sure.
Thanks... ill think i will go with the Sargent Seat. Doe anybody have the measurements of it? Got a guy here in thailand who will copy the specs and custom make one

see if he will cut the foam, then let you ride it with the foam before upholstering. You can see if it is right. throw a towel over it and go for a bit.

Will do... he asked for some measurements to prepare is the most accurate. How thick, how many inches at the widest part etc. Thanks!
I'll second not putting a wave in the profile, you'll get tired of being locked in unless it is absolutely perfect and you don't ride off road. If off road, you'll should be moving all around.
