Default 2010 KLX250SF won't shift into 6th

Deer jumped out in front of me and I laid the bike down (left side) going about 50mph while in 6th gear. I just put everything back together today and I noticed the bike won't shift into 6th now.
The first 5 gears are fine and smooth, on the 6th the lever moves up and I can't feel anything there, it just moves up and back down and obviously doesn't catch a gear.
Anyone have any thoughts on what it could be or how to proceed?

Sorry to hear about your luck...I can relate.
Chances are when it went down it transferred quite a bit of force through the shifter. There's a sticky about shift star that describes the pin that usually gets bent. Good news is that it's easy to fix.

Hey, yeah I saw this thread, which I'm assuming is the one you're referencing. https://www.kawasakiforums.com/forum...ar-gone-34237/
Does anyone know the part name? I'm looking on bikebandit right now and I can't seem to find that part in their blow up schematic...

Listed under crankcase parts-it's the return pin for the shifter pawl. That's what usually gets bent. You will need to disassemble the cover plate and look for signs of damage to verify.

So I tore off that cover (man that thing did not want to wiggle out of there) and it turns out that pin is bent and the shift star is missing a peg. But oh well, easy fix! Very thankful it wasn't anything worse.
Thanks GBAUTO, you've been a great help!
