Hi Preben,

I don't pick my new KLX up until next month, I am curretly at work offshore
I've just been reading through all the forums in relation to derestricting the model so I know which way to go when I receive the bike.
If you haven't already then check out Golden Triangle Rider Forum, theres some decent info there on what you were asking..
Cheers,
Dave

Hi Nick, its been a while mate. Clarification...when I removed my air box lid after I installed my 2BR pipe and relocated the O2 sensor my rev limiter vanished. I have heard of similar occurrences of it vanishing but none seem to be related to any mods done. Prior to this I had a nice crash and I believe at least one or two others in Thailand had similar occasions so think its more to do with that. Your wiring tap and another setup I have heard about but know very little of seem to be the duplicable mod.

Hi Preben - Your mech is a dork. One of two things you will need to do when you change the pipe: 1) relocate the O2 sensor on to the new pipe, or 2) get a O2 sensor "replicator" to fool the ECU into thinking all is well. Its very easy to move the sensor and if your mech knows how to do anything he can do that. I relocated the sensor onto my 2BR M7 exhaust. No issues and my shop loves it.

The Juicebox is a plug-in module from 2BR not a replacement. I got my direct from 2BR online, it isn't cheap, but it works. It allows you to tweek the fuel flow to the EFI. Kawasaki Thailand does have the "new" replacement ECU that is supposed to be better than the stocker so check with your dealer about that.

And as Dave says go to the GTR forum and check it out.

Default 2BR Juice Box; 2BR M7 exhaust

Hi Eric,

Do you mind if I ask where in Thailand you purchased the 2BR Juice Box and 2BR M7 exhaust and how much? To relocate the O2 sensor is just a matter of welding a new boss on the new exhaust??

Chers

Dave,
I purchased my 2BR parts direct from 2BR and had them delivered to my offshore address and I just hand carried them in my luggage. My local dealer in Udorn supposedly has a connection also but I can get it cheaper via the I-net. You are correct with the new boss for the O2 sensor. Being as you are in Phuket I would advise against the 2BR M7 exhaust as it is significantly louder and the BIB there are more frisky then they are in the provinces.

Hi folks,
Resurecting an old thread here, but humour me.
I bought a KLX for my girlfriend as a trail bike/commuter last year, and she has been very happy with it. Then I made the fatal mistake of mentioning that you can de-restrict it, and she realised she wouldn't have to worry about trucks breathing down her neck on the way to work!
Looking at the wiring schematic on the link, I was wondering if I were to put a two position switch in there, would that give me two maps? The original for snotty wet trails, and the hopped-up for blasting to them?
I don't do electrical speak, but if the original green wire runs a) to b), and the black wire runs c) to d), if I put in a switch that converts from that to the green wire from a) joins the black wire running c) to d) and nothing goes to b). Sound ok, or am I missing something?
Cheers in anticipation.

You will not have two maps.
Have the same map, but a 9500 or 10000rpm reach easily, and the other will be difficult to reach 8000rpm

there is a much easier way to de-restrict the KLX250S I have found a way described on a German website, (all with pictures) no need to speak German, which does not involve cutting of wires, it actually can be done without any tools, you just need a small piece of copper wire.

This clutch trick with the wire does work & is super cheap compared to buying a performance ECU but will not perform as well as a aftermarket ECU....I have tried both methods.

Thanks for the replies folks! Will try that this evening. We're not looking for massive performance increases, but having a top speed below the dual carriageway limit is somewhat depressing!
Cheers
