Hey guys thanks for the kind words, well it's actually been about 13yrs. since my last ride on a bike, I've had some time on atv's but just couldn't get that fired up about buying my own. Maybe my next purchase to go along with the KLX. Anyway my riding back ground very's greatly, from my first bike a KE100,next racing a yz 80,Kx125, switching to road racing two strokes Yzf 125, Yzf250, then four strokes Fzr400,600,endurance racing this alcohol beast Fzr 1000 then my road racing career ended with a kidney almost lost due to a high side at over 120, I had a stroke in 2002 so this is my first return to anything on two wheels so I thought I might take it easy instead of gas on brain off. Well any way thought I might just leave her stock for the time being and just enjoy myself, But then again who knows. That 13/45 thing might be me because I like riding my rear wheel, no I promised myself to take it easy. LOL

Hey Kevin, welcome, like stated above, lots of good folks who dont mind helping each other out on this site.

Good luck with the bike, sounds like your experience to date should make this an easy transition!!

Welcome! Well, I can't say I haven't been on a bike but I haven't been in the dirt in 20 years at least not on my own bike. I love the KLX! I think there is plenty of power and it will go fast enough on the street to get you where your going and have a blast getting there. I have only had mine a few weeks and I can't get enough rides in. You will love it!

Ah, thereit is; the process begins. "Resistance is futile" "You WILL be assimilated!"

Actually I think there maybe fewmembers whoare still runningstock machines, but they are in the overwhelmingminority. Besides, the basic 'open it up' mods that most of us are doingjust make the bike breath like it's supposed to and mildly increase the power/performance.

That said, it's actually a pretty capable bike in stock form, but I just couldn't bear to see it all choked-up like it was. [8D]

Congrat's on the new ride!

Hi kgwld 1 and welcome to The Forum. With your background I would bet that you will be all over this bike to let her breath and get that little extra punch. I see you live in Michigan. Perfect for doing some mods this time of year and not having down time when it's ride time. The basic mods just give the KLX the breathingability it was supposed to have. And if you have any questions, just ask. There is a good bunch ofguys here that are always willing to share there personal experiences with this bike.
Be safe, enjoy the ride, and have a Happy New Year!

I didn't buy the drz due to the high seat and narrow seat. The klx seat is wider and more comfortable. You must do the uncorking mods. I have been riding with 400's and 600's dual sports and they have lots more power and pull away on the road. But on the trail the klx does just fine.
