Default 1994 KLX250 Carb diameters for intake and outlet

Hi all

I am completely confused regarding the outside diameters of my carburetor for my 1994 KLX250.

The carb is sucking "false air" through the throttle body, probably damaged from a crash long ago. My mechanic tells me it is not to be saved.

I therefore search eBay for old carbs. But the ones I find are listed as 1994-1997 as the following OD 38mm and 50mm.

But my carb is OD 42mm and 55mm??

I have searched high and low, but I can't find my carb anywhere.

See picture below. I have noticed that my carb has two small holes above the outtake, whereas the ones I find on eBay have one....🤔 Besides that, they look identical.

Cheers

The KLX250/300 have all been pretty much identical in the engine and carburetion so what would work for any KLX works on the 1994, The biggest difference to the newer bikes is the electric start. If you want to keep price down, buy an OEM used carb on ebay from pretty much any year of KLX250. If you do the OEM make sure it is jetted decently. Here is a great KLX web site .with that information and more. The OEM carburetor is a Keihin CVK 34 with a 34mm intake ID at the head. Jets can be bought at a Kawasaki store or any good motorcycle supply shop, as D. Pippin has listed part numbers.

I would say, based on carburetor information here, if you want to spend the money then buy a Mikuni 36-68 flat slide made to suit the KLX. They are best performance with direct cable hook up

Hi klx678

I finally found one carburetor that is identical to mine. Below are two links to two different eBay listings. Both say that they are from a klx250. But if you look closely, you will see that they are not identical. Fx above the outlet, the first one has two small holes, whereas the second one only has one. I have contacted both sellers and asked them to prove OD measurement s for the inlet and outlet. And as expected the first one has 42+55 and the second one has 38+50. So I think that a very small batch of KLX's in the early 90's had a different carb, with different dimensions.
