Default Carb Icing?

Hi Guys, how do you stop a carb from icing?
this happens at about 8 deg C at sea level in foggy weather.

You can't stop it. You need to introduce a heat source to melt it as it forms.

A heat riser off the exhaust is common for cars. The short intake on bikes limits the exposure to carb icing, but it still can happen. They make carb heaters for some bikes. Haven't had a need for them in San Diego. Here's what they look like:

Not sure if there is an off-the-shelf solution for the KLX250S.

Here in Australia our KLX came with a carb de-ice circuit. You could find out the part number and order it from ya dealer.

Yerr saw that in the service manual, can it be fitted to the carb or is it part of the carb?

The AU option for carb heat is a different carb with a coolant loop through it. You'd need a new carb and all the plumbing to make it work.

Ah, I see. The drawing in the manual makes it hard to tell what the system is. So it just heats up that post on the bottom of the carb? If so, it's just plumbing.
