I will say this 1 more time........

The 09 is designed perfectly.....The power and ride stock is amazing..........Go ahead and mod it and u will receive crapier gas mileage with a tad more power..A tad..Thats it....These R&D folks that built this 09 found a perfect blend that can almost not be improved upon...

Definitely not you. Someone who wants his words 'cited' even though this is has been commonly avaible information for over half a century and stuff he's plagiarized from other forum members.

I have the 09 service manual. The US version is claimed to be around 15 HP. The Australian version, with out the cat converter is claimed at 17. The jetting is also different I assume to accomadate the better flow. There has to be something to gutting the stock unit.

Once I get these new SM wheels mounted and running a proper gearing I'll be looking into bringing it to a dyno testing facility.

Default Sounds like jetting

Have read this thread, pretty well covers all the options. Of course I could always tell you about the time I inadvertently put the carb slide back in backwards in a TS 250 Savage and then couldnt get it started. Me and a friend ran it out to the road and tried to bump start it, the hot sausage fired up and took off like a bat out of hell with me hanging on the bars side saddle, I managed to gain enough balance to bail from what appeared to be a terminal situation and the sausage promptly turned 90 degrees by itself and took off up a neighbours driveway before encountering a garage and falling on its side. It still was not happy and was spinning around in circles revving like a mad thing. I couldnt stop laughing when I saw the shocked look of the neighbour pondering this screaming pile of metal that had suddenly appeared in her driveway, but I eventually made it over to the bike and managed to turn the key off.
Quite a few morals in this story:
1) Always ensure the kill button functions
2) Just because it wont start doesn't necessarily mean the plug is a little fouled
3) Random neighbours rarely appreciate having new grooves gouged in their driveways
Good luck
Lee

I can't even understand how anyone whos been a member for this forum and reads it regularly could even make such a statement. For all of the mods out there you can double the HP if wanted, and you say you'll only recieve a tad more power out of it.

OK I screwed up. Got my numbers all kitty wampus. Here's what the 09 manual says,"
Maximum Horsepower
17 kW (23 PS) @ 8 500 r/min (rpm)
(AU) 11 kW (15 PS) @ 8 000 r/min (rpm)
(CA), (CAL), (US)---

Maximun Torque
21 N.m (2.1 kgf-m, 15 ft.lb) @ 6 500 r/min (rpm)
(AU) 17 N.m (1.7 kgf-m, 12 ft.lb) @ 3 000 r/min (rpm)
(CA), (CAL), (US)---"

In the legend, it says PS=horsepower
AU=Australia, CA=Canada, CAL=California, US= United States

Can someone decipher this for me?
