If I read the chart correct, the stock main jet is actually a 117.5 Keihin. So a Dynojet 124 is six steps bigger than stock, WOW!
I had been through the FAQ a few times but missed the Jet Chart; thanks for the info!
Hope to get the 300 exhaust on tonight then work on jetting Friday night. I'll let you know how it turns out.

installed the exhaust last night and removed everything down to the carb; removed the smog stuff also. Tonight I hope to remove the carb and re-jet it.

FYI, my 06 has special bolt head attaching the electrical connection to the carb (safety torque ??). If your planning DIY on your 06 carb, you will need a special fitting for your nut driver.

I don't recall ever trying to remove those bolts. I think I just disconnected the connection.

Man oh man what a difference! I am currently at a 124 main jet, clip 3rd groove down, t-handle 2.5 turns out. It idles smooth at 1500rpm; after riding it takes a few seconds to idle down to 1500. I picks up smooth, good power off the bottom and revs smooth up thru the midrange and into the top end. No surging at constant speed. However, if I rev it up to say 8 or 9000 in a lower gear then close the throtle it will back fire once it has dropped 1000 rpms. So if I run up to 9k, close it, as soon as it drops to 8k it will backfire. I used exhaust sealant when installing the exhaust. Is this normal?

ID, you are correct; all I had to do was unplud the elec. connection near the frame. Thanks!

Looking forward to a trip up the mountains this weekend. Thanks for all the help getting my bike ready for the ride; this forum is GREAT!

If you haven't de-smogged it yet, that might be the cause of backfire. The smog piping allows fresh air into exhaust to burn unburned fuel.

I removed the smog assembly, capped a single hole on the carb and capped the top hole in the air box. Have not messed with the case vent to lower hole in the air box.

did you plug the port on the front of the engine?

you mention you only plugged two of the three ports.

You don't want to plug the crank case to air box vent.

Some decel popping is often normal with these aftermarket pipes. A backfire isn't. Tell us what you did with the front-engine air intake port.

Sorry guys, I put a bolt in the short hose and hose clamped it like Dirt Surfers post. You know it may be closer to decel popping than a back fire; it is not a loud back fire I hear but it does seem like a mild back fire at the higher rpms.
