Cheese Grits

We also know "Cheese Grits" as Georgia Ice Cream.

Dang, I'm gonna have to run down to Mae Lou's in Mims for a fried oyster Po' Boy for lunch.

Yum!

Deej,

When properly cooked - that is fried - Okra is a wonderful meal.

Now, boiled peanuts don't do a thing for me.

Everything mentioned in the last several posts (with the possible exception of the banana slugs) is right up my alley. As a true Southern boy, I can tell you that cheese grits will be served every day in Heaven. If not, then I'll leave and go looking for them wherever I can find them.[:@]

Stewed okra (not boiled) is actually pretty good too. Definitely an acquired taste, though. Actually, it's not the taste that is difficult to appreciate at first, it's the texture. If any of you guys have had stewed okra, then you know what I am talking about.

What is the season for crawfish? If they are in season during January, we have definitely got to do a real, downhome LA crawfish boil. If not, I am sure there are plenty of things to get into. How is the grouper in January?

Dang, I'm hungry.

EMS don't knock it till ya try it! I like all kinds of different food, I used to travel a lot and I always try to eat what the locals eat......well mostly. Whats that Primani bros sandwich, looks like egg, potato, slaw and tomato?

Hmmmm now that I have seen pictures of the aforementioned foods, they don't look bad at all. And I'm the type that will try anything once. Oh and EMS here is a picture of what we have around here. I can remember once when my brother in law was working in the woods on a logging site, one of the guys said he would pay him $100.00 if he would eat a banana slug. Well let's just say he was scraping off that slime for the rest of the day, but he was $100.00 richer. He was 18 and stupid, I'm not relating the two, but sometimes together they can be dangerous.

Here is what they look like. I don't think I will try that once.
