Default 2008 or 2009 KLR650?

I am buying a KLR650, KLX250 is a blast but a little small for my 6'6" 240 lb rear end. The dealer has a 2008 in stock as well as 3 2009's. Obviously the 2008 will be priced lower than the 2009's. Any reasons why I should go with the 2009 over the 2008. All are brand new, 0 kms. Any help would be appreciated. Southern Ontario, Canada eh !

Far as i know they are the same bikes the 09s have some different color schemes.
There were some recalls done on the o8s. Muffler bolts for 1, main wiring harness for 2,And some updated turn signals due to posts breaking but I would think all of that would have been taking care of.
I have the 08 and like it. IMHO you can not go wrong either way.
Good luck.

I read somewhere out here (online) that the 08's used what turned out to be a bad piston/ring combo that led to excessive oil consumption.

True? I'm also looking for a KLR650 and depending on financing may go for a used 08, not finding many. Kinda prefer Brand Shiny New...

Default 2009 klr

Well, I bought a new shiny black KLR650.
Absolutely love it, the KLX250 was a lot of fun.
KLR650 is much better at distance.
Only problem now is staying away from "A VICIOUS CYCLE"
in New Dundee, too many toys available for this bike!!
