Upgrads And Opinions On '87 KLR
Hey, I'm in the market for my first real bike (been drivin my scooter for 5 years now haha I love it to death) and I found an 1987 KLR 250 for sale, I havn't got to look at it yet, but the description says it's in perfect condition runs great, and when I called he said everything is fine on it just like it was new. I asked if he could do 1000-1200 and he said since he needs it gone he can do it. So my questions are:
Is that a good price for it? if it's as good as he's described.
and
are there any Mods I can buy to Up the speed a little? after years of driving a scooter I just want to go fast now haha.
So any help would be appreciated, I'm new here and really hoping to learn a lot seeing as I know nothing about Engines. Thanks.

i dunno about the price, nada says a 95klx250 goes avg $900 so i think you could talk him down a bit more.
as for running and looking new, unlikely. unless youre buying from a deej its prob seen some ware n' tare, but what bike hasnt.
make shure to check the fluids,e****ally the oil (i dunno if this year has a raidaitor but if it does check that to).
and yes there are things like exhausts, jets and air filters to give your accel a kick, and you can change it all (top speed/acel) REAL quick with different sprockets.
as for help, theres loads of ppl here that know oodles and oodles of things about bikes n' engines (im one of em
)
so welcome to kf and good luck with the bike.

Hey, Thanks for the Welcome and the help.
So yea you tihnk I could talk him to 900? and yea in the pic it looked to be a little worn, so when I go to look at it I'm actually bringing two of my friends who are Bike experts (one is a Mechanic and one is a Racer, so my guess is they will come in very handy) And if I do get the bike beleive me I'll be abck immediatly asking on what performance parts you'd recomend buying. Thanks a lot.

Yea trust me if I ever sold anything it would be in top notch shape, I still have a Boom Box from 1982 that I bough from Radio Shack that looks new. Whoops........I just gave TMI again didn't I?
mmhmm 900 easy e****ally it its roughed up a bit.
and the easiest performance dohickey you can get for a bike (and one of the most effective for the $) is an exhaust.
i buy all of my parts from here--> bikebandit.com
ive been using them for almost 6 years and they've never failed me
