Hi, this is happening since yesterday, the power steering light is on and the steering is heavy. I don't have a nearby repair shop so I need to handle this as much on my own as possible.
The power steering is electric. Put a multi-meter over your battery whilst the engine is running and check that the battery is being charged.
If you are getting a charge on the battery, then load test the battery to make sure it isn't failing, or try another battery connected via jumper leads to see if that fixes it.
If you are not getting a charge then take it from there...........

Thanks for your response. The battery is almost new, we measured it and is giving 12v. We also did the bridge with other battery but the problem continues the same. If you have any other suggestions please let me know.
The Electric Power Steering has a control module much like an ECU on the engine. ECU's have a memory function, so when there is a fault they have the ability to self-diagnose. They retain the fault code and then you can read it using the appropriate code reader.
I believe that the module for the Steering has the same ability - it can self-diagnose and you can read the fault codes to determine what the problem is.
I would suggest downloading The Factory Workshop Manual for your machine. They are available for free online. Research how you can access and read the fault codes for the Electric Power Steering and take it from there.
Other than that I am no further help, but there are many other Forums where contributors would have posted information for you.
