Default Steering cable

Have a 2000 900 STX. Having a problem with the steering cable and reverse cables. They both move okay, but seem to be tighter. Is there a way to lubricate them.....any other ideas?
Thanks
Dave

Have you left the ski outside? weather can be rough on the cables. Typically cables can be lubricated, there is an actual tool to use but if you want to redneck it, you can put a hole in a plastic bag put one end through the hole and zip tieing the bag to keep it from leaking then put regular motor oil in the bag, and move the cable. Could take a long time to get the oil through, might let it sit overnight, just have something to catch the mess.

In all likelyhood though, if the cables are that bad off you are better off replaceing them. Good luck!

Not that I know of, some tubes have a rubber attachment on the back to simulate a rooster tail and keep it behind the boat, could try and model something similar but honestly I doubt the effect would be worth the time...

Looking to change my steering cable...the manual makes it look really complicated...remove oil tank, remove fuel hose, turn the ski on it's side. Is it really that much of a pain? Can the average person do this okay?
Thanks

Sometimes you can find an easier method than what the manual states but in many cases it will end up being just as much of a pain. I'm sure an average joe can handle it, but you may need some buddys and brews on standby in case you gotta call in the calvary.

Default Bogging down

Have a 900 STX....problem with it bogging down. To start....it will go about 12 mph...and then it will free up and start going faster...will hit about 34 mph and that is as high as it will go.
Is the carb like others....with low and high speed jets. Is there such a thing as a carb kit for these engines
Thanks
Dave
