Hey everyone, I just bought a 2001 stx 1100 di off of marketplace as a fixer-upper. It originally needed a new fuel pump because the old one burnt up and melted the neck on the tank. That is being fixed but I figured in the meantime, I would go ahead and troubleshoot a few other things. I started out with trying to turn it over. shorting the solenoid worked first try. It’s not locked up but has low compression. It will not turn over with the start button. I checked for continuity, and there is no obstructions in the path of the wires. the guy I bought it from said he doesn’t know if the EMM is working or not, so that might be a possibility, but I am new to these units. I also have to replace the gauge cluster, but I was trying to figure out how to get it to turn over. Also, when I short it with the solenoid to turn it over, there is no spark. I’ve hooked everything up and there is still no spark. The wires look in great shape so I doubt that’s the problem but everything keeps leading back to a bad EMM. Let me know of any ideas and of anyone in the Newton county Georgia area that works on these computers or knows how to diagnose one! Sorry for the long chat I just wanted to make my situation as clear as possible!
