zx-636 will not go past 10,000rpm
anyone know why my 2003 636 will not go past 10,000 rpm when outside temp is 60 or colder. hits ten grand and starts bucking, total loss of power. no FI light or oil light or any thing like that....??? bike has 19,000 miles????

Have you changed the computer at all ?
Have you changed the air intake at all ?
The "bucking" is most likely fuel-cut, when your engine runs too lean (too much air) the computer will cut fuel to the engine to save it from any possible damage from detonation. You could be running lean right around 10k rpms and hitting fuel-cut. If you are, get your bike to a mechanic or fix it right away. The computer will save it from permanent damage, but it can only do so much.
As the temps get lower the air gets denser, this means more air per volume. So at the same rpms, it is getting more air than at warmer temps. This explains the difference in temp change.

OK, another question. if i put a power comander on it, will it take care of the lean condition?? or is it something mechanical like the fuel pump goin out?... i'm gonna take it to the shop as soon as i can....took it out today. 45 degrees out. couldn't even go past 97 mph, or like 9500 rpms. i'm pissed, cause now i'm at the house...

RE: zx-636 will not go past 10,000rpm (solved)
well, i finally found out what was wrong with my bike. the fuel injectors were clogged. i ran 2 bottles of fuel injector through this past saturday, and now it runs like a champ....

I'm going to try this as well because I'm having the same EXACT problem, except my tank is full of rust, so I'm going to remove it this weekend and clean the heck out of it. Then fill up and use the injector cleaner.
