ZR-7s Exhaust Question

ZR-7s Exhaust Question
I have an 01 ZR-7s The bike is not fast, and is deffinately no high rev wheelie popper. It is completely stock and I want to get a little more sound out of it. The few pipes available are high dollar and I am not looking to get huge power increases, but at the same time i don't want a cheap pipe and still have to go in and re-jet all 4 carbs. So I guess the question is wether I go with a slip on or a full exhaust will I have to jet the carbs to keep it running right? And what pipe suggestions does anyone have.
Thanks Kyle

I have been sorta dealing with this lately so lets see if I have learned anything....if you are bone stock and throw a new exhaust on there you will probably still run fine, but you may run into backfire/afterfire from your bike being tuned to the airflow of your factory can. To eliminate the popping(if it does happen) you will need to do some fine tuning of the bike, but it's not a severe problem that would need immediate addressing

hmm, You have a good ride and produces good power and reliability. Either way, the carbs will have to be tuned for the day and or application. Stop putting your great ride down. Either way you look at it, the bike needs to be tuned for that day or the general area that it will be ridden in.

If you do a full exhaust you will need to rejet the carbs. If you don't you will run the engine lean and that is not a good thing. If you go with a slip on, you do not need to rejet. There could be some popping on decel, but that can be helped by adjusting the pilot jets. That can be done with carbs still on the bike if you are patient. The ZR-7 would sound good with either one of the exhaust options.
