hmm, not sure on how to get this across.
To me a damper is a band aide. Depending on how you ride with your bikes geometry/setup means alot and stay within your comfort levels. Every setup and comfort level is different with a persons intent for that ride.
All I know is with my zx7 on the track, the only wobbles/twitches were coming from setup and out of one corner only. The 10 twitches going from spinning the rear in 3rd gear going into 4th in hard acceleration so far. Guess what I am saying is stay loose on the controls and learn your ride.
I agree that you should have your bike suspension properly set. But as far as a damper being a band aid, I don't agree with. Like was stated in previous posts, you come down from a wheelie with the front end slightly crossed up. That is a tankslapper in the making. A damper would stop it. Like I said in my post, my front end washed out on some sand. My damper kept it from slapping when the tire stopped sliding.

I cannot make a recommendation on brands or even types of dampers. There are the rotary types and the piston types to choose from.

There are quite a few to choose from. Like I said in my first post, get one that is adjustable.

This is one I always wanted to put on my ZRX. Couldn't because I have bar risers.

Suspension is key, but, I will not own or ride a bike without an aftermarket damper. I got my GPR damper 6 months ago and I cannot count how many times it has stopped a tankslapper or kept bumpy corners from getting twitchy. I reccomen GPR easy install, and easy adjustment.

One reason Dragone is answering the way he is, is because there are a handful of bikes out there that are heavy enough up front and balanced enough even in the most aggressive hands where a damper would actually detract from the ride, and make it slightly more difficult to keep stable. One such bike is the ZX7. So far, I would have to also say that my ZX9 is another, as well as the entire 90s line of Gixxer 750s. If you own one of those and you think you need a damper - then you are doing something wrong.
