Default top end power

I have an 2008 1600 nomad
i have already installed the cam chain extenders
i have worn through the spark plug sleeve
i just checked and am already wearing the new sleeve
i plan to have the engine rebuilt this winter
any ideas to increase top end power
i plan on different exhaust, intake and putting on a fuel management system
speaking of which is a good fuel manager

Thank you

Why are spark plug tubes worn? Is the cam chain slapping around that much to allow that to happen? If so the tensioners are still junk. I've helped a few 1500 and 750 Vulcan riders with manual tensioners where the adjustment is made and fixed. When the OEM tensioners fail they are allowing to be pushed back in and snap back out, when pushed in the chain goes slack and can sling around in the cam drive towers. If that is what is hitting the spark plug tubes, manual tensioners will solve the problem and keep the valve timing accurately set. The tensioners for the 1500 are the same as those in the 1600, I looked to verify that. Same gaskets same tensioner body shape.

ON the performance aspect, wish I could help, but can't. The spark plug tube thing just caught my eye. If you go to hotter cams I definitely recommend the manual tensioners. Many racers will go to manual tensioners because then they KNOW the setting is right. They aren't high maintenance either.

If you want recommendations on my work, just check the KLX250 section here. One rider here got with me to make the part for the 250 and quite literally thousands have bought the part from me since 2009.

Actual manual adjusters. Thread in against the sliders to adjust the chain taking out the slack, but not so tight as to put undue tension on the drive. That is the 1500 adjusters, which would be same for the 1600.
