so changing the oil seems to be a simple project.....i noticed the filter is kinda up around were the headers are.....is it hard to get into that area to get it off and will it make a mess.....the oil plug seems easy enough since it is in the back all by itself.....and the mileage i have heard from 200 miles to 3000 miles just like a car so can i get some input guys new to the street bike thing

 

I did the first 500 miles then 1k and 2k and then went every 3rd k miles on the oil change... Yes its drips on the headers and burns off after a few minutes, but you can buy a oil drain funnel if so disired to keep it from hitting the headers.
