Default Should I Be Concerned?

Hi guys,

sorry didn't know where to post for the best answers for i posted in the eliminator 125 thread too

Got my eliminator a couple of weeks ago and it's been fantastic.

Yesterday I was coming home from work and just before i came up to my slip road i heard the engine revs dying down... bit wierd i thought so i changed down a gear and opened the throttle - revs still dying - changed down another gear - revs still dying - so i pulled up to the side of the road, my engines died!! so i thought s**t as you do and tried to restart but no luck... waited for a few minutes, i thought i may have run out of petrol as i'd just come from brighton to Maidstone so i switched to reserve, engine still wouldn't start. Had to wait for about 5 minutes before i could get going again.

Any thoughts as to why? Could it be just low petrol, perhaps overheating (i'd been travelling at around 60 for a good half hour in top gear all the way) or could it just be i need to wait for a while for the engine to settle in before going that hard again?

I'm thinking that a brand new two week old bike shouldn't be cutting out on me.

Any thoughts or help is greatly appreciated, Thanks

something is amiss. Two weeks old, could be electrical ie battery and connections, could be fuel related.

Sounds to me that you ran out of fuel and needed to switch to reserve but bike shut off before you could switch it over .Carbs were then completley dry so it took a few minutes to start it back up.

Thats what i was thinking/hoping!

btw not technically minded (aka know nothing really about the mechanics or build of a motorcycle) but is the reserve a seperate section of the fuel tank, like in a seperate lil compartment? cos when i thought i had ran out of petrol i opened the fuel cap and pushed the bike back and forward and i could see a lil bit of petrol slosh up.

anu more thoughts or suggestions would be great from you guys

1+ There

It can be hell to get your bike started again when the carb bowls run dry.

question (to show you how un-technically minded i am)
what/where are the carbs? how can i tell if they're dry?

maybe if it happens again i could check that? hasn't happened again today so hoping that that was the problem

thanks for the replies

Probably the wrong year but it may help you.
edit: Pic of the petcock assembly. See if you have fuel leaving this before going to the carb/carbs.
