New exhaust on a Kawasaki Z1000 2007 model
I have a Kawasaki Z1000 2007 model. I’ve just bought a Campbell Sidewinder custom exhaust to my bike. On the manufacture webpage it says:
“Please note! The standard silencers are fitted with an exup valve. After disconnection
and removal it is advisable to visit your local dyno centre to check the fuel injection mapping. “
(New Page 1)
I’ve checked with my local Kawasaki dealer and they say I don’t neew to do anything, but others claim I have to buy a Power Commander and reprogram the fuel injection.
Is this really necessary?
Any suggestions?

Any adjustments you make to the airflow through the motor will effect the mixture, so you will need to adjust the map for optimum performance. Typically you wont notice a difference, but a bad mix can do anything from fouling plugs to burning valves. If you want to do it right, get the PC, but the bike will still run without it.
