Default Gear shifting?

My eliminator 125 has only 300 miles, sometimes I have to double clutch or open the throttle a little bit to shift to first gear, just first gear at a stop, is this normal? or is the oil used afftects the shifting? thanks

The ride is new. Check the clutch cable adjustments and check for any binding. Double check your drive chain tension while you are at it. Too tight? Oil does play a small part in shifting through the gears but not in first gear only.

It will be soon needing it's 600 mile service, I'll take it to the shop. I'm not very mechanical but will soon learn, thanks.

+1 on drags advice - i had the same happen a few times - adjusted the clutch cable, tightened up the slack in the chain and gave it a lube up and problem seemed to solve itself
