fram ph6017a vs. ph7317 etc why?
Does anyone know why fram has part numbers for their motorycle filters that a direct cross reference to some of their auto filters?
example ph6017a = ph7317
ph6010a = ph3593aa
They're the only oil filter company that I know of that does this...is it to squeeze a little more money out of an identical but differently boxed and marketed product? Or is there an actual difference between the auto and bike filters? Thanks.

like ted sid..lol why IS diesel more expaensive?
did you know it goes thru ONE LESS step in the refinery.. you'd think less effort in production would equal less money.
it's probably a marketing scam. i worked in a n oil filter plant and i couldn't tell ya why, other than maybe something stupid like a hex welded on the end for a wrench, or a bypass valve Vs. no bypass valve.... or different seal material.. doubt it tho.. like they'd change from buna-N to viton or somthing?
i dunno.. scammage.
