Faulty IAP data & how to enforce Alpha-N-mode on the 650cc engine?
Hi all, 2019 Vulcan S650 driver here. I recently added the WoolichRacing tuning kit, highly recommended. Tinkering with fuel maps, sensors and the WR "live engine data" screen, I found that my ECU just cannot produce a steady Intake Air Pressure signal. Even at steady RPM, the Intake Air Pressure data as delivered by the ECU is all over the place, randomly jumping across the whole pressure range every few seconds. The IAP sensor is new and checked with oscilloscope, vacuum hoses around the throttle body and to the IAP sensor are stock and without leaks. Crankshaft sensor is checked and good. I have no idea what to check next, so I am thinking of simply disconnecting the IAP sensor and thus force the ECU to run the engine in Alpha-N-mode only, ie fuel amount only determined by throttle position and RPM. That will of course trigger the "Check engine" light, but that'd be a minor inconvenience.
Questions...:
(a) did you guys ever encounter a similar issue with randomly jumping IAP data coming from the ECU?
(b) would you know of any other way to force the ECU (the Denso 21175) to exclusively run in Alpha-N-mode rather than in the hybrid D-J/Alpha-N-mode?
Any advice warmly welcome, cheers,
Michael
