Default Check your tire pressure

One problem out there is not enough riders check there tire pressure on regular basis. For good tire performance, and life inflate to the recommended pressure of your manual. Yes there are exceptions track day,and drag racing do not fall in the stock pressure area. Just a few pounds under inflated can change how the bike handles alot, It may not hold a line in a turn. Im not wanting to scare any one just be aware it only takes a minute to check it. I check mine every ride, some times it is right on other times a few pounds low. Good riding!!

This is not for those of us that Know how to tune and maintain a race bike but more for that new rider or some one that just throws a leg over with out a thought and wonders why something goes wrong all of a sudden. I hope some one read the first thread ( track days and drag strip are not in the same area as recomended PSI by manufactuer ) Let me through in Spirted back road sport riding. If your crusing on a soft compound performance tire a slightly lower preasure causes more friction there fore tire waste if just crusing, but for sport riding you want more traction a lower preasure might be wanted. But to low and you can over heat the tire causing a bigger problem. If the bike calls for 36 psi and your at 34 well not that big a deal, but if you are at 20 psi get some air in that tire. Dunlop did a study at Sturgis this year and something like 50% of the bikes were more than 10% under in flated. Not all were Harley riders either, and most of the bikes were 2 up and had extra gear so more preasure is needed for the load. Just more info for ya.

I agree, checking your tire pressure is important, more so for a bike than a car. I manage to get about six years out of the tires on my Firebird (keep in mind it is only driven for a six month period every year, approx 15,000 KM a summer). I check my tire pressure a minimum once a week on the car, and will check before every trip out on the bike.
