Default carb problems

I have a 1983 Kawasaki KZ550. When I recieved the bike there were two hoses coming out either side of the bike attached to the carb. I thought that they were vent hoses but when I put gas in the tank it started coming out of the hoses. I am new to motorcycle repair; where do the hoses need to go?

I havent taken them off yet. After I clean them, would I have to sync them up?

Yup. The floats are sticking open. Those are vacuum lines. Check for rust in the tank. Likely, some crap from the tank is flowing into the carbs, getting caught in the float needles. Otherwise, your needles are just worn out. Always sync the carbs after having them apart.

For future reference, questions are not to be posted in the DIY section. ask them in the general tech section.
