Bad rectifier?

Okay, so I took the bike out for a more lengthy ride and 10 miles in to my ride, it died. Same symptoms. So while the other battery was bad, there's something else going on here. Back to troubleshooting...

Is the battery still being drained, or is it still dieing while maintaining the charge? If you are getting proper voltage to the battery I cant imagine any real problem with the charging system, and any grounds or wireing issues should kill the bike without draining the battery significantly. If the battery is not recharging after everything tests out you got me, but if the battery is holding a charge I would move on to ignition system.

Okay, I have it all figured out. There were two problems. First, the old battery was shot and putting a load on the system. The second problem is I replaced the fuel filter with one that was larger. It ended up sitting higher up above the carbs forcing the fuel line to bend at a sharper angle. Over time the hose weakened and after riding for a little bit there may be some negative pressure that forced it to collapse and starve the engine of fuel. So I shortened the fuel hose going in to the carbs lowering the height of the new filter by ~1". I took the bike out for a 35mile run last night and didn't have a single issue. The throttle was very responsive as well. Of course, the whole time riding I was paranoid I was going to get stuck far from home.
