81 kz1100 will not start.
The end of the story;
I cannot get my bike to start unless I spray it with starting fluid, and then it only 'starts' for less than a second. It has a new battery and it is fully charged. The fuel filter is not plugged (I am able to drain fuel from the hose at the carbs).
The beginning of the story;
I bought this bike from a front porch. It had been sitting for over a year. I paid a guy to 'clean it up'. He did an amount of carb work, cleaned the choke out, and did basic maintenance (plugs wires oil).
I took the bike on vacation with me and while riding through the mountains of TN and NC killed my battery. I couldn't even push start, or jump the bike. I replaced the battery and drove ~120 miles (down hill) back to where I was staying without problem. The next day I took the bike out and broke 130 on I-485. By the conclusion of that ride I had trouble getting over 40. The motor was acting as though it were starved. Thankfully the bike got me back to where I was staying. It has not started since.
Side note: The bike has the stock pipes, and KN air cones.
I am dying to get back on the road. Please help.......

RE: 81 kz1100 will not start.
how do the plugs read? May be too late now(install new and list what plugs you are running), but read the plugs and note the seat of the pants performance on one run only. Pic of the plugs would be cool to see.

seat of the pants meaning low speed circuit, mid and hi speed responses of the carbs.
edit: A 1000 miles on plugs is a long time if tuning or any correctionsare concerned.

edit: after installing new plugs and doing a run on the bike.

Dragone#19 you have been a great help. Thank you!
On a cleaned set of plugs the bike runs pretty good. 1/2 throttle and up (or under load) it sputters. Additionally it will not charge the battery. Any ideas?
