2006 650R - Battery or ???
I have a friend of the female persuasion who has a 2006 650R. She hasn't ridden the bike in forever. Today, I jumped it to get it started but it wouldn't run hardly at all without the jumper cables being attached the battery. Also, when I did get it running the needles on the speedometer and tachometer were redlining all the way then coming back to zero every few seconds. Also the FI (fuel injection) light was coming on sporadically. Is she in need of a new battery, or is this problem bigger than just a new battery. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
With the information its hard to make a call, the alternator requires a charge to produce power, if it doesnt have a charge to begin with then it cant charge the battery. I would say take the battery to the local parts shop. They can charge it and test it for you, and go from there.
