2000 EX500D won't start
Hi guys
My bike won't start and here are some of the things I have checked already:
-relays and fuses
-starter motor and relay
-cleaned carb
-cleaned air filter
-spark from spark plugs
-battery voltage
I can hear the engine turn over when I press the ignition button but the engine won't sustain this. Now I def have fuel and fuel gets to the float bowls. All of the components inside of the carb seem fine (metering needle, diaphragm, float, fuel float valve). And like I said there are sparks from the spark plugs. But I don't know if fuel is getting from the float bowls through the carb to the cylinders or if the spark plugs are firing at the right time. It should not be a voltage problem because I charged my battery and even tried jumping the starter motor with my car battery.
Any ideas for this newbie? thanks

When you say the engine "turns over, do you mean it momentarily fires or just merely moves the internals? Sure you have the right plug wires to the right spark plugs? If you have "fresh" fuel in the bowls (see Deej' comment) and you have spark (at the right plug) (AND the correctly spec'd plugs) it should fire. Pour a dab of fuel into the spark plug holes, re-insert plugs, and try again. If it runs (longer than a burp) then you may have a choke problem. I don't recommend it as a standard practice, but have you tried starting fluid into the air intake?
BTW, welcome to the forums. Give us as many details as you can; I think we can probably get you going.

Deej- Yes I have shut off the fuel, drained the carb then filled it with fresh.
Jeff- By turn over I meant it moves the internals. I am pretty sure I hvae the right wires to each plug. I will try pouring a dab of fuel into the spark plug hole and spraying some starting fluid into the air intake and will get back to you.

get a 25$$$ trickle charger from advance auto...it charges and then maintains...works great for our bikes...

Tried spraying starting fluid in the airbox and a little in the spark plug holes, nothing. I took it to the shop today so hopefully they fix it and I can update you guys on what went wrong.
Thanks for the help
