2000 Kawasaki 900 STX Won't Start
My 2000 Kawasaki 900 STX jet ski will not turn over. When you push the start button the starter makes a click-click-click sound. It will not turn the motor over. A man put some quick start stuff in the cylinders and it started then( couple days ago) but won't start now . The battery may not have juice but the screen lights up. Do we need a new battery or what? Help plz?

It does either sound like the battery or a connection.... When the starter fluid was sprayed, it has a much lower flash point than reg fuel, so with just a little juice, she would fire... I would say check the battery. How many volts is it holding, and how many amps are being drawn when you hit the start button?

RE: 2000 Kawasaki 900 STX Won't Start
I have a 1997 900 STX. My fuel tends to recede back toward the gas tank after not being run for a while. It doesn't take long (hours). Check your fuel/water seperator near your battery and fuel tank. I bet that the level in there is pretty low at the times that it doesn't start. What I do to deal with the problem is to fill the seperator prior to use and put just a little gas in each cylinder by removing the spark plugs and adding the gas. Once you replace the spark plugs, I would be willing bo bet that it starts up just fine.Be sure that the choke is on when you firsttry to start it. By doing that, you will lessen the chance of killing your battery trying to keep starting the engine. It is worth a try and doesn't take more than a few minutes to do before you go for a ride. I hope that this helps.

Clicking noise when you hit the starter switch is almost always a dead battery or a loose connection. Try charging the battery and check all connections from the battery to the starter, if your still getting the clickity click you may need a new battery. When you put the ski up for the winter invest in a battery tender, you can leave it on your battery all winter and it will maintain the battery throughout the winter months so you can start right up in the spring. One time cost of $20 is well worth it considering the headaches it will save you.
