Hello riders. I really need some advice... I have a 96 vulcan 1500 that needs a rebuild. Leaks oil, valves chatter, cam chain stretched out, etc... is it worth sinking money into an older bike and having years of riding out of it or should i sell/trade it in and invest my money on a new one? I love the bike even though its an older bike and i may come out cheaper rebuilding the engine but if i go ahead and get a new one EVERYTHING would be new not just the parts. Have any of you ended up at this crossroads and what route have you taken??? I humblely invite your reply....

A 96 is still newer. Parts are available, should be able to completely build the engine for less than 1k. Or you can buy another engine for less and not know if it will last or not. Sounds like you need some good maintenance tools and the manual. Generally things like you mentioned do not happen with maintenance often.
