Inspection Stations on LI
Anyone know of any inspection stations in eastern long island? I live in the westhampton area and my dealer is full of bs and told me they are swamped and couldn't get me in until next week. I got pulled over a few days ago by the local cops and they let me off with a warning so I want to get this thing inspected asap. Cops around here suck and believe me they will nail me again as soon as they see me. I got pulled over 12 times in 9 months last year all for stupid bs reasons in my car so they love to harrass people.
He tried to tell me I didn't signal onto my street and then busted my ***** about my front turn signals. He said they are illegal since he wouldn't be able to see them if he was standing directly in front of the bike during the day. Obviously they are legal otherwise he would have told me to change them or write me a ticket like they usually do. After that he noticed the inspection was expired and that seemed to be his main target since that was the only real warning he gave me and gave me a whole lecture on why vehicles need to be inspected. But anyway I found a private garage that does inspections so I brought it there on satuerday.
I'm not too sure. I think just the basic stuff like tires, brakes, etc. They don't do emissions but they do a sound test to see if it's too loud. The guy told me the pipe was a little loud but he was cool and passed me anyway. I noticed a sticker on the side of the bike that said it was designed to be at somewhere around 80 db at a certain rpm so it would pass inspection but with that pipe on there I don't think it's anywhere near that. It's loud enough where someone would hear me coming before I was in sight. I remember before I bought the bike, the guy brought it to my house to show it to me and I heard that thing coming way before he actually pulled in my driveway. So in other words, it's REALLY loud. Probably way to loud to pass the inspection at a normal place such as the dealer.
I had a hard time finding an inspection station around me, cause they are all at Harley shops and they wont have anything to do w/ "sport bikes". They refused to do my bf R6 a few years back and he went another time to try to get his bike on there DYNO and they told him they dont deal w/ litre bikes. I looked in the yellow pages and finally found a small shop.
Here in NY they check turn signals, brake and head lights, horn, look at brakes and tire tread. It cost $6.
