Empty KX65 Carb
Hi ,
I was advised to empty the carb after my son rides each time.
He has a KX 65 2013. I was advised to loosen bolt at bottom of carb however fuel leaks out all over the frame.
Is this right?
Thanks

Different strokes for different folks. Some empty the bowl, others don't. How often does he ride? The greatest risk is fouling the jets, particularly the pilot jet, with varnish as the fuel evaporates. Also, some bikes are hard to start unless fuel in the bowl is fairly fresh from the tank. If he rides several times a week, I wouldn't worry about it. You could run the motor with the petcock off to run fuel out of the bowl, but be careful if the bike is hot as I've heard of two-stroke motors running on to soaring rpms under a lean condition where the kill switch doesn't work (I let the bike cool off before starting back up and running the fuel out). Using non-ethanol fuel (if its available) and a fuel stabilizer (like startron) will help prevent fuel degradation and jet fouling.
