Question Tank Never Empty When Refueling?

Hi, I just bought, and love, a beautiful green and silver 2006 Nomad with V & H exhaust, Mustang seats and Three inch risers. I am a bit confused about my fill ups at the pump. My bike ran out of fuel, shut off , around 160 miles. I made it to a gas station, but when I filled it up it still had a gallon of fuel left in the tank. Why would the motor shut off if it still had a gallon of fuel left in it. I don't have a resrve that I'm aware of. I'm wondering if something is wrong. I'm averaging 41.8 mpg. Anybody experience this or have some insight. I'd appreciate it.

Thanks......DMR.

had a similar situation with a mean streak. bike shut off, filled up only 3.8 gallons. the spec manual says i have 4.5 gallons. called the dealer to see what the heck, he said the specs may be wrong. any one know the actual fuel capacity for either of our bikes??

It's the pick up tube. When I ran out of gas I found that if I leaned it to the right it would start again and go a few miles.
Repeated this twice and made it to a service station.
Gas gauge very inacurate.
