just bought a bmc race filter... Inside the box there is the filter (of course) and a black foum pad... Wondering what the pad is for. One side has adhesive on it. Any ideas??

That sounds like a reasonable reason for the foam. Never tried that filter yet.

my guess is that you can put in on the filter if your running to lean.

I would think it would be for the lid, or a pre filter??? The side that has the adhesive, is it all over, or is the adhesive just on the outside of the pad?

I PUT ONE ON MY BIKE. ONLY USE OUTSIDE CUT OUT PIECE. ITS USED TO SEAL THE AIR BOX AND FILTER, SO DIRT DOESNT GET INTO THE ENGINE. ATTACH ADHESIVE SIDE TO THE FILTER FRAME. THE SPONGE PART WILL FACE THE FRONT OF THE BIKE OR WHERE THE AIR RAM COMES IN. HOPE THAT HELPS.
