Default 2014 KLX 250S engine case swap ?

Aloha from Maui!

I got a project bike.. it is all good exept for a thumbnail sized hole in the left side case. Seems likeit hit a curb or a rock.. completely missed the stock skid plate....
I actually got it running and wanted to add oil and it all of course went right through...
My main ? is can I pick up a left case and swap everything over or should I buy a matching L/R case from Ebay...
It has very little miles on it around 3800.
Any tips on gasket sets other than OEM?
Mahalo!

You might try a local welder to see if he can fill it in for you.

I agree with tooters idea. TIG weld that, no heat, no tear down. If the break is in a non supportive area. I am just not a big JB weld supporter. Not yet anyways

I'd have it TIG welded and then I would clean it out really well to remove any grit or other loose material. Being in Hawaii, your options are probably a little limited but, unless I could find a really cheap donor, I'd probably take the same route here in Texas.

With the new 300's out, it might be worth looking for a totaled insurance claim bike and do an engine swap. Those new 296cc EFI engines are nice!

In terms of donors, those cases and engines, in general, go very far back in the Kawasaki family. An old KLX-300 enduro or any KLX-250S would be a good candidate for a lower swap.
