KLX230 break in?
I know, I know. Another " break in" thread. I was just wondering if there's any harm in changing my oil at 478 miles vs 600? Kawi states the " break in" period for my KLX 230 ABS dual sport is 600 miles. I know with engines being broken in, you want to flush out any metal shavings early. Just wondering what everyone else's suggestion is? I have heard that from most engine builders that the first 500 miles is critical for proper piston ring seating and wear.

I don't think a few miles either way matters...
I did the first oil change with filter at 550 miles and added a magnetic drain plug for extra engine protection. I used regular non synthetic oil this time while the break in process continues. Next change will be to full synthetic.
