Default 2011-2013 650ABS vs ZX-6R

Hey guys and gals I'm brand new to this forum so please excuse any newbie questions. I'm gonna be buying a new bike this winter, in a few months time, and need input. The title of this thread is the two bikes I'm looking more into. I'm not gonna be doing stunts or showing off, I'm more about flashy looks and eye-candy. At the same time, I wanna have that Growl when it comes to engine power when I decide to show off my two times a year haha. The one dealership I've been to said the zx-6r will put the 650 to shame, not sure how that makes sense given engine size....so I need sport bike savvy knowledge please! Thanks much for any and all input.

"Eye Candy"....hmmm. what other expectations are you wanting from owning your first ride? Both rides are competent for street rides. The 650 would be better for longer 400mile/day rides. The 6r is of course sportier.

Welcome to KF

I really like the look of the backseat being separate from the front instead of one long piece of nylon or whatever material it is. I also like the look of the side hand grips on the rear as opposed to the strap going across the back seat. I don't plan on taking many long distance trips, I can always strap it down in my truck for that. I will never top out its high speed, its gonna be used for just fun pleasure riding in town. Don't plan on doing any stunts ever but I want engine power to were even a 1000cc bike will second guess "challenging" me. Any of this help?

The ninja 650 will never meet this request
but I want engine power to were even a 1000cc bike will second guess "challenging" me
since it is in its own twin cylinder class of rides designed more for daily riding and comfort of a more upright riding position. The 6r is a good poser ride in the looks department. This ride also demands more rider constraint and experience to be able to use this tool to its greatest capabilities.

Oy, totally hate your term "poser ride" :-\ . I guess my final decision will boil down to "sex appeal" (looks) and engine power. I'm fairly(ish) confident I could afford a zx-10r or 1000r but the insurance gap from 600cc to 1000 was a slamming $120! That's with a spotless record mind you. I'm open to all suggestions. So far, the 6r has my eye. I've also noticed that Yamaha, Honda and Suzuki 600cc classes are another $1500....why is this?

sounds pretty descent of a price I think. Ask for $7600 cash in hand and ride it home.

Well I'm at a crossroad here. I can get the money for the bike, already been told that shouldn't be a problem....BUT I'm stressing what new taxes are gonna pound the us next year. Of course if I Don't buy it before next year I prolly won't be able to afford the sales tax and other fee's if I wait till 2013.
