Kawasaki just did there big reveal today of all the 2011 models.

No 2011 klx250S or 250SF.

We do get a 2011 KLR but as far as I can tell it is just a couple of new color schemes. It didn't even get an intro.

Maybe 2012 will be a big year for KLX's ? Maybe even a 450S ? Get your 2010's while you can because it will be a while until we get more.

 

Two months ago, I was going nuts trying to decide if I should wait or get a 2010 now. The 2010's were in very short supply in my area, I didn't want to miss out. Reading this, I'm VERY happy I picked one up when I did!

 

So Kawasaki is now Ford? that's what I get when I click the link.

 

I think you may be seeing the highlighted words in posts that the forum program does automatically and is usually not the poster's action. I'm not sure how or why this occurs, but I see it in my own posts. It's annoying.

 

The same for the off road version of the KLX 450 MIA for 2011. I wonder if this is the economy and related to poor bike sales or something more sinister. Hopefully it's just that their gearing up for a total make over in 2012. Isn't this what happened in 08 with the 09 KLX 250?

 

I think that's the case with the KLX250. Between dealer and manufacturer stocks and the worldwide economy, I think...hope...that's all this is. This isn't unusual for Kawasaki.

 

Two of my area motorcycle dealerships closed down last year. The American market is depressed right now for sure. Hopefully '12 will be better for off road bikes as far a Kawi goes.

They didn't make the KLX250s in 2008. I got a deal on a new "07" in the spring of 2008 because the "09" model was coming out soon. The "09" came out late spring or early summer of 2008 if I remember correctly.

Well, seriously, guys. What the hell do you think was going to happen? The dealers still have new '09s they can't get rid of. I got mine for $3600. Out of the box the bike is funny looking moped that doesn't start when it's colder than 60 degrees outside. All this bull**** how you have to lay the bike on its side to get it to start, bla, bla,bla... To a regular person who wants a motorcycle they put the key in and ride, it's not going to work very well. Us guys who turn wrenches know it's a good platform to start with and, with another $500+ worth of stuff, we can turn it into what we want.

The new KLX250s has a really bad reputation as being a gutless starter bike. The magazines say what they're paid to say but word of mouth is a different story and sales reflect that. The fact that the economy is bad may be helping sales because not everyone can afford a WR250.

 

The field of choices of a solid, reliable, low service, 250 DS bike that has any real potential is what?...the Kawasaki and the Yamaha? I don't want a race bike with a license plate. And on the other side of the coin, I don't want a Honda 230L, the ancient air-cooled 250 Yamaha, or the dismal KLR250. The KLX is the foundation of a very, very good dirt bike that is totally street legal and really capable of being an all-around bike. If you haven't already sold your worthless POS, please do so and be happy with something else.

Oh, and on the starting issue which really seems to be at the heart of your complaints, for gosh sakes drill out the starter jet and be done with that issue. The drill size is .018".
