Default Knee Protection

What kind of gear do you guys wear on the street regarding knee protection. I don't want to wear a suit and I think wearing knee sliders on the street would be overkill especially when I'm just rocketing down the highways. I like wearing jeans, but I want some protection for my knees. I saw some from alpinestars that looked pretty good and well priced. Anybody use anything that's: 1. Good protection 2. Comfortable enough to actually wear 3. Affordable

Thanks

When I'm "casually riding", I wear my Draggin Jeans with padded compression shorts and some dirtbike knee and shin guards underneath.

Icon has some great pants with heavy but breathable denim. You can buy a pair of knee/shin guards at for about 15 bucks.

I just wear normal jeans, but if i am going to be goin on a long trip I'm thinking I'm gonna start just wearing my fox motocross knee/shin guards underneath. But yeah, I've looked at the various pants and a lot of them are very expensive like you said.
