Default RE: Helmet lifespan?

and here is what i got back from ICON:

Hello,
Since Icon has been around for less then 5 years if you own one of our
helmets you are fine. I would say in about another 1 1/2 to 2 years you
will want to look into replacing it if you haven't already by that time.
The helmet interior will start to change its integrity after about 5
years of use; this is why the helmet should be replaced.

Thank You For Supporting Icon,
AZ

figured it's worth sharing, since it's coming from different sources!!!

Yeah Thanks Kali. I also heard that if you drop your helmet it is good to replace it as well. This is due to some of the material compacting more in that one spot and not absorbing the energy or something lke that. Just what I heard though.
That is true. Your helmet is designed to absourb one impact. The resiens that are used flex, and are weakened through a impact. Two weeks ago I found a little dent in my helmet while at work (I keep it in a bag on my desk) . No one would say who was messing with my $hit, so I had to go and buy a new helmet ($350). I was pissed.
