this is my very first diy write up ever so let me know if i miss anything:

ok i had to teach myself about led's a while ago when i converted all my dash lights in my car to led so this was no problem. if you have any questions post on here and ill help you out

first:
i removed the licence holder and light and cut the light wires (left enough on the actual light end so if i ever wanted to hook it back up i could with no problem)

second: found a pice of thick tin, i think it was originally to be used for gutter haning on a house, the holes that were predrilled mached up perfectly (wow lol) all i needed to do was drill then about 1/8 in. bigger and that part was done.

third:
i removed the original licence hanger from the stock licence holder and bolted it up to the "gutter hanger"

fouth:
i went and found some cool looking led's, here is where it gets a little harder.
i know a bike runs a 12 volt system so i had to find led's that run 3-4 volts a piece, or i had to find the right resistors. i chose to just look for some 3 volt ones and opt out the resistors.
if you run led in a series and sum of the led voltage ads up to or is close to the power outage you dont need resistors (ex. most white led lights need 3.2 Volts a piece to light up to the intended manufactuer brightness, so i used 4 white (cool blue) led in a series 3.2+3.2+3.2+3.2=12.8 volts needed to light them up to the intended brightness)
i could have used a mini amp to up the bikes outage to match the 12.8 but decided that .8volts (or .2v per light) was not needed. (you can go under the volts all you want, it will just make the light dimmer the lower you go and it will also make the lights last longer the lower you go, these lights are rated at 100,000 hours @ 3.2 volts, so ill probably get about 120,000 hours oout of them running 3.0 volts)

running led in a series goes like this



fifth:
i drilled the correct size holes in the turn signal plastic and put the led lights in and wired them together, turned it on and damnnnnn it looks good at night,
i have checked with local police and they said it is perfectly leagal because the are so small of lights and are pointing somewhat down twords the plate, but i would check wtih your local cops.

let me know if you need any help with the leds they really arent that hard once you start doing it, you could also use colors like red, green, yellow, anything just make sure you read the volt rating on the led package.

total spent on mod, 5$ for the led lights and a bloddy finger from the beer can (damnit lol)

Question; On LEDs, if you went with a parallel wiring with the correct resistor, couldn't you adjust the intensity of the lights? Albeit shorter life span. But just curious

about the max you could prolly take one of these led's up to would be about 3.5-3.7 volts, would be bright as hell and would only last maybe half the life, anything past that and you cook the led lights i would imagine, but to answer your question you could do it that way but you would have to have a resistor of 103 ohms at .66 wats for 4 led's and that is a very odd resistor, so you would have to make yourn own by stringing a few together
